The Skoda LT vz 35 medium tank was Czechoslovakia’s main battle tank just before the Nazis invaded Czechoslovakia.
Developed by Skoda Works and CKD in 1934, the LT vz 35 had a 1.46 inch (37mm) anti-tank gun that was based on an equal-caliber Skoda anti-tank gun which was famous for its accuracy. It also had two 0.312 inch (7.92mm) machine guns, one of which was mounted coaxially.
The Skoda LT vz 35 medium tank had riveted armor.
Earlier models were known for having mechanical problems.
Some LT vz 35s were sold to Romania and Slovakia in 1936 and 1937.
After the German invasion of Czechoslovakia in March 1939, Germany took more than 200 LT-35s into service for their own use. They modified the tank’s engineering and steering system and renamed the tank thePzKpfw 35(t).
The Germans continued producing PzKpfw 35(t)s until 1941. They used this tank in Poland, France and at the Russian front. They sold some PzKpfw35(t)s to Bulgaria in 1940.
After 1941, the Nazis used ithe PzKpfw35(t) as an artillery tractor, designating it Artillerie Schlepper 35(t).
